Spaghetti Tower Challege

Our team began this process by trying to figure out how to build a stable base for the tower. We didn't have an easy part because of the way we kept messing up on tying the spaghetti sticks together. This activity might best fit 8th and 9th graders.
We didn't have a leader. It was mainly all four of us pitching ideas, while we each took turns trying to find a solution. We talked over some ideas and tried them. If they didn't work, we didn't use them. If we felt the idea had some potential, we did. Everyone's ideas were listened to. All teammates were included. I was a bit frustrated because the tower wouldn't stand.
Our plan was to build a cone-shaped base to help it stand. Then, we would add sticks at the top and build it up from there. It did not work. The base barely stood and the added weight at the top didn't help.
What I learned about myself was I become frustrated under pressure and that I w0uld rather work alone. However, having a group helped because of the ideas other people had.
